Reference Assets

In some cases, your lineage shows VIEW assets with a type ending with _REF. They represent a placeholder for an asset that Sifflet detects upstream or downstream on the lineage but that has not been added to Sifflet yet. Once you add the data source, the table replaces the _REF asset on the lineage.

In the example below, the view STG_LOCATIONS is based on a table DEMO.ECOMMERCE_SAMPLE.LOCATIONS of type DATASET_REF. The table DEMO.ECOMMERCE_SAMPLE.LOCATIONS has not yet been added to Sifflet. This usually means that the schema ECOMMERCE_SAMPLE of database DEMO has not been added to the data sources.

Once you add the right source, Sifflet replaces the placeholder with the actual LOCATIONS table.
