Reference Assets

In some cases, you might see on your lineage VIEW assets with a type ending with _REF . They represent a placeholder for an asset that we know appear on the lineage upstream/downstream but that have not been added yet to Sifflet. Once the datasource is added, the table will replace the _REF asset on the lineage.

In the example below, the view STG_LOCATIONS is based on a table DEMO.ECOMMERCE_SAMPLE.LOCATIONS of type DATASET_REF. The table DEMO.ECOMMERCE_SAMPLE.LOCATIONS has not yetx been added to Sifflet. Most likely, the schema ECOMMERCE_SAMPLE of database DEMO has not been added in the datasources.

Once the right source has been added, the placeholder will be replaced by the "real" LOCATIONS table.
