Overview

Statuspage components can be updated in case of Sifflet monitor failure to reflect data quality issues and ensure teams have a robust point of reference to know whether or not they can trust their data.

Update Statuspage Components From Monitor Failure

You can leverage Sifflet email integration and Statuspage email automation feature to update Statuspage components. To do so, follow the below steps or check out Statuspage email automation feature documentation page.

Set Up the Integration

  1. Head to your Statuspage account and click the Components entry on the left sidebar
  2. Look for the component you want to update in case of Sifflet monitor failure
  3. Click the Automation link for this component
  4. Copy the URL provided by Atlassian for email automation (e.g. component+861a5ed9e79a42e28f6da1157ebe4674@notifications.statuspage.io)
  5. Head to your Sifflet application
  6. Hover the Settings entry and click the Collaboration tools subentry

Configure Monitors to Update Statuspage Components

  1. Go to the Monitors page and edit an existing monitor or create a new monitor by clicking the + New monitor button.
  2. In the Overview and notifications section, make sure to add the word DOWN in the Monitor name field. This will allow Statuspage to know the component should be switched to Major Outage whenever a Sifflet monitor notification is issued.
Note: You have the ability to switch your component to Degraded Performance or Partial Outage by appending +partial_outage or +degraded_performance to the email address of the component (e.g. component+861a5ed9e79a42e28f6da1157ebe4674+partial_outage@notifications.statuspage.io). Read more about this on Statuspage email automation documentation page.
  3. Click the Save/Update button to save your monitor configuration.
  4. Whenever your Sifflet monitor fails, a notification that will update your Statuspage component is triggered.
